New Job Training Grant Helps Workers and Employers

Governor Jim Doyle has made nearly $2.3 million in federal funding available in order to help displaced Wisconsin workers find new jobs and improve their skills. The On-the-Job Training National Emergency Grants (OJTNEG) – awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor – are being made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The OJTNEG grants are meant to spur economic recovering by helping workers improve their jobs skills while working, helping those who have been displaced quickly develop crucial job skills that will help them find work sooner, and providing partial reimbursement to employers’ who are willing to provide job skills training.

Workers interested in training opportunities should contact the Wisconsin Rapids Job Center at 715/422-5000. The Job Center is located at 320 W. Grand Ave., Suite 102
Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
